No, this is not an ad for C. Wright Mills’s classic White Collar, though I do wonder what Mills would make of it, the ad and the show. But speaking of Mills, there’s a conference dedicated to his work this weekend at the City University of New York Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue, corner of 34th St. & Fifth Ave, in the first floor Recital Hall.
The conference kicks off Friday morning with a 10 a.m. session on Mills and the intellectuals, featuring Russell Jacoby and John Summers. Other speakers over the weekend include: Harvey Molotch, Marshall Berman, and David Harvey. There’s an opening plenary at 5:30 p.m. Friday, with Stanley Aronowitz, Patricia Hill-Collins, and Craig Calhoun. Contact Andrew Greenberg for more info (greenbergandrew@gmail.com).
